Adobe makes Creative Cloud, Acrobat and Experience Cloud for design, document and marketing teams, and has owned Semrush since April 2026.
Adobe is a San Jose software company that sells three product lines. Creative Cloud covers photography, design, illustration and video. Document Cloud is Acrobat, for reading, editing, signing and sharing PDFs. Experience Cloud is the marketing side of the company: analytics, content management, campaign and personalisation tools for teams running large customer-facing sites. Around those sit Adobe Firefly for generative AI, Adobe Express for quick template-based design and Adobe Stock for licensed assets. John Warnock and Charles Geschke founded the company in 1982 to move printing and publishing to an all-digital process. It trades on Nasdaq as ADBE, and its head office is at 345 Park Avenue, San Jose, California. Adobe's customers range from a single designer subscribing to one Creative Cloud app, to a document team standardising on Acrobat, to a marketing organisation buying Experience Cloud through a sales contract. Each product line is sold on its own terms, so a buyer weighs Photoshop against other image editors and Acrobat against other PDF tools rather than weighing the whole catalog at once. Adobe Photoshop, the image editing and compositing application at the centre of Creative Cloud, sits alongside Adobe Illustrator, the vector drawing application used for logos, icons, packaging and illustration. Adobe Premiere, the video editing application formerly called Premiere Pro, and Adobe After Effects, the motion graphics and compositing application, cover video and motion work. Adobe Lightroom is the photo library and editing application for photographers. Semrush joined the company on 28 April 2026, when Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush Holdings. Semrush keeps its own name, site, pricing pages, support and toolkits, and its plans are still bought on semrush.com.
