Twilio SendGrid is a transactional email API and SMTP relay with dedicated IPs, plus Marketing Campaigns for newsletters and drip automation.

Twilio SendGrid is two products on one sender infrastructure: the Email API for the transactional mail an application sends, and Marketing Campaigns for the newsletters and drips a marketing team sends from the same domain reputation. It is made by Twilio, the San Francisco communications company, which acquired SendGrid and now runs its pricing pages and docs on twilio.com. The Email API is a REST Mail Send endpoint and an SMTP relay, with official client libraries for Python, Node, Go, Ruby, PHP, Java and C#, dynamic templates with Handlebars, batch sends and scheduled delivery, event webhooks for every delivery, open and click event, an Inbound Parse webhook that turns incoming mail into a POST to an app, open and click tracking, suppression management, categories and unique arguments for tagging, a sandbox mode and an email validation API. Dedicated IPs with pooling and automated warm-up, subuser management, bounce and block classification, single sign-on and EU data residency arrive on the Pro tier, and an email activity feed and deliverability insights show what happened. Marketing Campaigns brings design and code editors, contact segmentation, A/B testing, signup forms, email testing credits for inbox rendering, a subscription preference page, domain authentication with SPF and DKIM and, on its Advanced tier, automation for welcome and drip series. Twilio SendGrid suits developers sending receipts, alerts and verification codes at volume, products that outgrew a shared-IP sender and need warm-up and pooling, enterprises that need single sign-on and EU residency for email, marketing teams that want campaigns on the same sender reputation as their app email, and teams that would rather pay month to month than commit annually. The Email API is sold on the Essentials and Pro tiers by monthly email volume, billed month to month with a Premier tier quoted at the largest volumes, and Marketing Campaigns on the Basic and Advanced tiers by contacts and emails with a Custom tier above them, all after a time-limited trial. The plan cards list every tier. In daily use SendGrid sends order, shipping and account notifications, password resets and verification emails, newsletters and promotions from Marketing Campaigns, the welcome and drip automation, and lead capture through hosted signup forms, parses inbound email into an app and validates addresses before they enter a list. It sits beside the application that calls it and the CRM that holds the contacts rather than replacing them.
