Microsoft Clarity is a free session replay and heatmap tool for website and app teams, with no traffic limits and no paid tier.
Microsoft Clarity is a user behavior analytics tool that records website and app sessions and turns them into replays, heatmaps and behavior metrics. It answers what page-view analytics leaves open: not how many people arrived, but what they did once they were there. Clarity is Microsoft's own product, served from clarity.microsoft.com, and its terms of use name Microsoft Corporation as the contracting party. Its home page reports more than 2 million sites and apps using it. Session recordings replay what a visitor saw and did, with Highlights marking the key moments of a journey. Click maps and scroll maps aggregate where people click and how far down a page they read. Semantic metrics flag rage clicks, dead clicks, quick backs and excessive scrolling, and recordings can be filtered to the sessions that threw JavaScript errors. AI summaries and AI chat describe patterns across sessions and answer questions about the data, while AI visibility reports which AI bots crawl a site and which queries cite its pages. Masking modes control what text is captured, and the Clarity SDK extends the same capture to Android, iOS, Flutter and React Native apps. Clarity suits marketers, product managers, designers and developers who need the behavior behind a conversion rate rather than the number itself. It fits small sites that cannot justify a seat-based analytics contract, and equally large ones that want replay coverage of all traffic instead of a sample. Teams already on Google Analytics run it alongside that data, since the integration carries GA segments into the Recordings tab and a Clarity Playback URL back the other way. Clarity is signed up for on its own site, with a project per site, no seat limit and a single tier that every account gets. The everyday work is checkout and form debugging, landing page reviews before and after a change, and triaging the pages where visitors rage click or leave. Clarity installs as a tracking script, through a tag manager, or through the CMS integrations its documentation covers, and it shares consent signals with the Microsoft UET tag and with consent management platforms such as CookieYes. An MCP server brings the same data into an AI tool, and a live browser extension shows engagement on the page being viewed. Most teams keep their existing analytics for the numbers and use Clarity for the evidence behind them.
