Google AdSense is Google's ad network for website owners and creators: free to join, it fills ad space on their pages and pays them a share of the revenue.

Google AdSense lets people who run websites, blogs and browser games earn money from ads shown beside their own content, without selling the space themselves. Google LLC runs it from adsense.google.com, with a separate sign-up and a help center of its own. Advertisers buy the space through Google Ads, a different Google product. The publisher adds a piece of ad code once, and Google then fills those slots with ads from that demand. Auto ads places ads across a page automatically, while a publisher who wants control positions ad units by hand. The unit types are display ads, in-feed ads that sit inside a list of articles, in-article ads between paragraphs, and Multiplex ads arranged in a grid. Separate formats cover Accelerated Mobile Pages, Web Stories and H5 games. An AdSense search engine can also run on the publisher's own site. For developers, the AdSense Management API reaches the account's ad units and earnings reports from their own code. AdSense is built for independent creators and smaller publishers, the sites run by one person or a small ad management team. A larger publisher that sells space directly to its own advertisers, or wants to mix in other ad networks, is directed to Google Ad Manager instead. A blogger typically adds the code to every page and lets Auto ads find the placements. A recipe or news site with long articles leans on in-article and in-feed units to keep ads inside the reading flow. On WordPress, the account links through Google Site Kit, Google's own plugin for the platform. A studio publishing browser games earns from H5 games ads rather than display banners. For anyone who writes, films or builds for the web and wants that work to pay for itself, AdSense turns visits to their own pages into ad income without a sales team.
