Customer Success Software

ChurnZero vs HubSpot Service Hub

ChurnZero and HubSpot Service Hub both track account health and flag churn risk, but they are different tools. ChurnZero is a dedicated customer success platform for B2B subscription teams, while HubSpot Service Hub is the support workspace built into HubSpot's CRM. ChurnZero runs health scores and renewal playbooks off billing and usage data; HubSpot Service Hub keeps those scores next to the tickets and deals a team already manages there. The choice usually comes down to running customer success as its own system or inside a CRM already in use.

Which Should You Choose?

The choice between ChurnZero and HubSpot Service Hub depends on what a team already runs and who owns customer success. A subscription business with a dedicated success function, its own CRM and billing system, and health scores that need to run on product usage and revenue data sits closer to ChurnZero. A company already selling or marketing through HubSpot, or a smaller team that wants tickets, a help center and account health on one login, sits closer to HubSpot Service Hub.

Of the two, only ChurnZero lists renewal and expansion tracking, playbooks triggered by a health-score change, a customer-facing hub for shared plans, and a direct connector into a data warehouse such as Snowflake or BigQuery. Reviewers credit its segmentation and playbooks with cutting manual outreach and its health scores with surfacing accounts that need attention. The same reviewers call its dashboards hard to customise without paying extra and describe a steep learning curve. For ChurnZero, pricing comes only from a demo call.

Only HubSpot Service Hub lists support tickets and CSAT scores that feed into an account's health score, because the ticket, the deal and the contact sit on one CRM record. HubSpot's own comparison page argues a dedicated customer success platform usually needs separate integrations with a CRM and support tools. Its hub keeps tickets, chat and health scores on one record instead, though it does not name ChurnZero. Reviewers praise that shared record and call the product easy for non-technical staff to pick up. The same reviewers say costs climb quickly once a team adds seats or a higher plan, and several describe the interface turning cluttered as tools pile up.

The two review pools cover different periods. Most of ChurnZero's reviews date from 2017 to 2023, with only a handful from 2024 to 2026, so its praise for playbooks and health scores and its complaints about dashboards and the learning curve describe mostly older experience. One reviewer in 2026 still reports confusion setting up the ChurnScore itself. HubSpot Service Hub's reviews run through September 2026, and recent ones keep repeating two points: support sitting next to sales and marketing data, and the rising cost of adding seats or an advanced plan.

For ChurnZero, take a mid-market subscription company with a dedicated success team, a CRM and a billing system: it would use ChurnZero to score accounts from product usage and flag a renewal at risk months before the contract date. HubSpot describes a real case: The Knowledge Society, a small education business, used Service Hub's Customer Agent to resolve support tickets on its own. HubSpot reports the agent now resolves 70 to 80 percent of email tickets, cutting time to close from more than 16 hours to under 10.
