WebStorm is JetBrains' desktop IDE for JavaScript and TypeScript, made for front-end and Node.js developers on Windows, macOS and Linux.

WebStorm gives web developers one desktop application for writing, checking, running and debugging JavaScript and TypeScript code. It reads the whole project, so completions, navigation and warnings follow types and imports across files. It is built to keep code sound whether a developer writes it by hand or prompts an AI agent for it. WebStorm comes from JetBrains, the Prague-based maker of IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm, which has built developer tools since 2000. The editor's completions know the types in play, and Search Everywhere finds files, symbols and IDE actions from one popup. Refactorings rename symbols, files and folders or extract components, methods and variables, with every reference updated. Inspections flag problems as the developer types, with ESLint, Stylelint and Prettier wired in and built-in checks for React and Angular code. The debugger sets breakpoints and watches in client-side and Node.js code, and the test runner shows Jest, Mocha, Protractor and Vitest results in a tree view. Branches, diffs and merge conflicts are handled in the Git tools, while Local History can roll back changes even without version control. WebStorm suits developers whose work is mostly JavaScript and TypeScript: front-end engineers on React, Angular or Vue, and Node.js developers on the server. One installation also covers HTML, CSS, Sass, SCSS, Less, JSON, YAML, Markdown and shell scripts, so a whole web project stays in one window. Its audience runs from individuals learning to code, creating content or keeping hobby projects to companies whose teams ship commercial web applications. Native builds for Windows, macOS and Linux let each developer keep the operating system they already use. Beyond the editor, the database tool window queries and manages PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite or MongoDB data next to the code that reads it. The built-in HTTP Client runs request files against a web service, and Docker support runs and debugs an app in containers, multi-container Docker Compose setups included. For a heavy codebase, a lightweight local client can drive a remote server over SSH through JetBrains Gateway, while the V8 profiler captures CPU profiles and heap snapshots of a Node.js process. Module dependency diagrams show how files import one another, and JetBrains Marketplace plugins such as the JetBrains AI Assistant extend the IDE further. It is the workbench for a web developer who wants the code, its tests and the services behind it handled in one place.
