Smile.io is a loyalty app that Shopify and BigCommerce merchants install to give points for orders, signups and reviews, sort customers into VIP tiers, and hand every shopper a referral link that pays both sides in store credit rather than cash. Shoppers meet it as an on-site panel, a hosted rewards page and points shown on product pages; merchants configure it from an admin app rather than by writing code. It is made by Smile Inc., a remote-first Canadian company from Kitchener, Ontario. Points for orders and actions are the core, with bonus points campaigns, points expiry with reminders and a points shop to spend them in. VIP tiers sort customers by spend, and the refer-a-friend program gives two-sided referral rewards with post-purchase prompts and referral fraud checks that flag self-referrals, disposable addresses and repeated IPs. Rewards come as discounts, free shipping, free products, subscription and gift card rewards. The on-site loyalty panel, a hosted loyalty landing page, points embedded on product pages, the Loyalty Hub and Nudges show the program to shoppers, with widgets in 24 languages on Shopify. Shopify POS earning and redemption bring the program into a physical store, Shopify Flow triggers and Klaviyo and Mailchimp sync send loyalty events into automations, and ROI and CLV reporting show what the program earns. A REST API and a front-end JavaScript SDK open the program to a headless storefront, and data warehouse sync, admin roles and audit logs serve the largest retailers. It is sold flat per store in US dollars on a permanent Free plan and the Essential, Standard and Growth tiers, sized by monthly orders and integrations, with Plus billed annually and Enterprise quoted on request. VIP tiers begin on Growth and the API on Plus. Merchants run Smile.io to reward repeat purchases with points, sort customers into spend-based VIP tiers, acquire customers through referrals, earn and redeem points at Shopify POS, show points to earn on product pages, trigger Klaviyo flows from loyalty events and cut sitewide discounting by redeeming points instead. The store platform stays the store and the email tool stays the email tool; Smile.io supplies the loyalty layer between them.
