Plausible is open-source, cookieless web analytics software for site owners who want one page of reports, no consent banner and EU-hosted visitor data.
Plausible is cookieless web analytics software for people who want to know how a site is doing without running a data project to find out. It counts visitors without cookies or persistent identifiers, so a site using it needs no consent banner for the analytics itself. Uku Taht started it in December 2018 as a lighter alternative to Google Analytics, and the company that makes it is still independent and funded by its subscribers. The script and the data both sit on European-owned infrastructure in the EU. Every report lands on one page. Unique visitors, total visits, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration sit across the top, with Channels, Sources and Campaigns underneath and Top Pages, Entry Pages and Exit Pages beside them. Goals and custom events record the actions that matter, Custom Properties attach detail to them, and Funnels follow a sequence of steps through to its drop-off. Realtime shows the last half hour as it happens. Saved Segments, Annotations and filters on any dimension cut the same page down to a single question. Google Analytics import carries the old history across, the Stats API and Sites API pull numbers out, and the Studio Connector puts them into Looker Studio. Plausible suits site owners, small product teams, agencies and publishers who read their analytics weekly rather than hourly, and who care that visitor data stays in the EU. It fits teams that have decided Google Analytics asks more of them than they get back, and developers who would rather open one dashboard than build reports. Shared Links, Embedded Dashboards and Team Management open the same view to colleagues and clients. It is bought as one subscription priced on monthly pageviews across all the sites on the account. Most teams run Plausible on a marketing site, a documentation site or a SaaS app, with the tracking script added to the pages being counted. Agencies use Consolidated View to read a portfolio of client sites together, and Email and Slack reports deliver the weekly summary without anyone opening a dashboard. Bots and spam traffic are filtered out before they reach the numbers, and a managed proxy can serve the script from the site's own domain. The same server code is published on GitHub as an open-source project, so a team that would rather host its own analytics can run Plausible on its own hardware.
