It is Microsoft's line of business applications, sold app by app rather than as a single bundle. Each app is licensed on its own and shares a common data platform with the others. Companies that have outgrown separate accounting, CRM and warehouse systems use it to bring those records back together. Dynamics 365 Finance covers the general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting. Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management adds production control, master planning, inventory and warehouse work. Dynamics 365 Business Central packs finance, sales, purchasing, projects, service and manufacturing into one application aimed at smaller organizations. On the customer side, Dynamics 365 Sales handles leads, opportunities and sales force automation, while Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Dynamics 365 Contact Center run cases, knowledge and voice channels. Human Resources, Project Operations, Field Service, Commerce and Customer Insights complete the range, and Copilot agents such as the Sales Order Agent and the Payables Agent work inside them. Business Central suits small and midsize companies that want one application for the whole back office. Finance and Supply Chain Management suit larger organizations with several legal entities, multiple currencies and their own manufacturing lines. Sales and Customer Service suit teams already standardized on Microsoft 365, where the CRM needs to sit beside Outlook and Teams. Dynamics 365 is bought per app and per named user, billed yearly, with lighter licences for people who only read data or approve work. Finance teams use it to close the books across subsidiaries, revalue foreign currency balances and post depreciation on the fixed asset register. Operations teams plan production orders, route purchase requisitions through approval workflows and track stock across warehouses. Sellers and service representatives work opportunities and cases against the same customer records the finance team posts to. The apps extend through Power Apps, Power Automate and Copilot Studio, integrate over a documented REST API, and pick up bank statements and Shopify orders through first-party connectors. Power BI, Outlook, Excel and Teams read the same records, so reporting and approvals happen where the work already is.
