Complianz is a WordPress and Shopify consent management plugin, owned by team.blue, with a free tier and paid licences covering 1, 5 or 25 sites.
Complianz is a consent management plugin for WordPress and Shopify sites that have to ask visitors for cookie consent and keep proof of it. It is made by Complianz BV in Groningen, the Netherlands, and team.blue announced its acquisition of Complianz in December 2023. The plugin does the whole consent job inside the site's own admin rather than through a separate dashboard. Site owners answer a wizard once, and the banner, the legal documents and the consent records follow from those answers. The Wizard asks which regions the site serves, what it uses cookies for and which third-party services it loads, then writes the banner and the documents to match. A hybrid cookie scan reads the site and repeats on a schedule, sorting new cookies, plugins and services into categories. Third-party cookie blocking holds embeds such as Google Maps, Facebook and Instagram until the visitor agrees, and categorisation runs through Google Tag Manager or the built-in Script Center. The Cookie Policy Generator drafts the policy, and privacy statements cover the EU, the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Brazil. Premium adds Geo IP Cookie Consent, Google Consent Mode, the TCF integration, Records of Consent, Data Request Forms and A/B testing of banners. Complianz suits WordPress site owners who need a working banner and the documents behind it, and agencies that look after client sites under one licence. It fits publishers and stores in the EU that have to document consent, and sites covered by US state privacy laws that need an opt-out path. Shopify merchants get the same banner through a separate app on the same site. Licences are sold by the year and by the number of websites they cover, with a free WordPress plugin under them. Most installs sit beside Google Analytics, Google Ads and a tag manager, where the job is to stop those tags firing before consent and to show afterwards that they did not. Editors use it to publish a cookie policy that matches the last scan, to take data requests through a form, and to show a different banner to visitors from different regions. Agencies run one licence across client sites and give each client the same wizard. On Shopify the app covers the banner and the policy for a store rather than a content site.
