Social Listening Tools

Awario vs Brand24

Awario and Brand24 are social listening tools that gather what people say about a brand across social networks, news, blogs and forums into one feed. Awario is built for reputation monitoring, competitor tracking and finding buying-intent posts. Brand24 is built for marketing and PR teams who want the feed read and summarised for them. The difference that decides most choices is Awario's historical archive and lead hunting against Brand24's AI analysis, spike alerts and TikTok and YouTube video coverage.

Brand24

Individual $249/mo, Team $349, Pro $499, Business $699; annual billing $199/$299/$399/$599. Enterprise from $1499/mo billed annually. 14-day trial, API add-on $149/mo.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Awario if you want mentions from before you created the alert, buying-intent posts for social selling or white-label client reports, and you are content with a flat per-account subscription. Choose Brand24 if you want AI to group and summarise the feed, an early alert when mentions spike, or keywords caught inside TikTok and YouTube videos. Both take AND, OR and NOT operators, so query syntax will not decide it.

Awario starts from a topic holding unlimited keywords, and a new alert pulls in mentions published before it existed, a feature listed only for Awario here. Alerts reach email or Slack. Awario's own comparison page says it has a dedicated module for hot leads and that Brand24 has no special sales prospecting features, which is Awario's claim about a rival. Its limits: Awario itself says TikTok is not a covered source, and Awario's comparison page concedes that Brand24 has a mobile app Awario does not.

Brand24 reads the feed for you. AI Topic Analysis groups mentions into themes, AI Insights summarises what changed, and Storm Alerts flag a spike while event detection suggests its cause. The Influencer tab ranks authors by reach. Two constraints show in the plan list: the mentions API is a paid add-on, and realtime updates come on higher tiers.

Reviewers writing between July 2024 and September 2026 praise Brand24 for an intuitive dashboard, responsive support, real-time alerts that catch a crisis early and reports that save time. Their complaints: sentiment scoring that misses irony, medical terms and non-English text, filters that pass irrelevant mentions, an overwhelming volume of data, and coverage gaps such as public Facebook profiles. Reviewers also call the price steep for small businesses. Awario has fewer reviews to draw on, many of them written about the company rather than the product itself: reviewers praise real-time collection, dashboards and reports, while two reviews from 2021 and 2025 complain of being charged without notice.

Volterra, which Awario's case study describes as a social media services provider for companies, trade associations and charities, uses it for share of voice, brand monitoring and audience identification for clients. HypeAuditor, an influencer marketing platform per Brand24's case study, uses Brand24 to track media coverage, measure PR impact and build media lists.

Before deciding, run one real query on both and check how many irrelevant mentions come back. Neither vendor documents a migration path between the two.
