Grammarly is an AI writing assistant for grammar, tone and rewrites in the browser, Word and Gmail, from Superhuman, the company formerly called Grammarly.

Grammarly is an AI writing assistant that reviews text as it is typed and offers corrections, rewrites and tone changes. It works in the applications where the writing already happens, so a draft does not have to be pasted into a separate editor first. The product is made by Superhuman, the company that started in 2009 as Grammarly, Inc. and renamed itself after acquiring Coda and Superhuman Mail. Grammarly keeps its own name, its own site and its own plans page, separate from the other Superhuman products. The assistant begins with spelling, grammar and punctuation, then goes further into how a piece reads. Full sentence rewrites redraft clumsy passages, and tone suggestions shift a message towards sounding confident, friendly or direct. Plagiarism detection and AI text detection check a draft's originality, and citation support formats the references around it. Grammarly Docs is a dedicated surface for longer pieces, with export to Word and PDF. Teams add style guides, brand tones, Snippets for reusable text and Knowledge Share for the jargon new joiners do not know yet. Grammarly suits people whose day is spent writing: support agents, marketers, salespeople, recruiters, students and academics. Teams pick it up when several writers need to sound like one company, which is what the shared style guide and brand tone settings are for. Larger organisations get SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, data loss prevention and audit logs on top. It is bought per member on one account, and the plan cards list every tier. Most of the work happens inside other software rather than in Grammarly itself. The browser extension covers Gmail, Google Docs, Slack, LinkedIn and X, and add-ins cover Microsoft Word and Outlook on the desktop. Writers keep the tools they already use and see each suggestion in place, as a card beside the sentence it refers to. Grammarly sits alongside the rest of the Superhuman line, including Coda and Superhuman Mail, but it is signed up for and paid for on its own.
