Amazon runs the amazon.com store and, through Amazon Web Services, builds software for organizations, including the Amazon Quick Sight BI service.
Amazon.com, Inc. sells to shoppers through its own storefront and runs a set of services linked from it, among them Prime Video, Kindle, Audible and Sell on Amazon for merchants. The company was incorporated in Washington in 1994 and reincorporated in Delaware in 1996, with its principal corporate offices in Seattle. Its business software comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS), the unit that builds and sells Amazon Quick Sight. That product began as Amazon QuickSight and now continues inside Amazon Quick, an AWS workspace whose other parts include Quick Automate, Quick Research, Quick Flows, Quick Index and Apps in Quick. Quick Sight is the analytics piece of that line. Companies use it to build dashboards and paginated reports over data held in AWS and in outside warehouses, to let staff ask questions of that data in plain language, and to put dashboards inside their own applications for their customers. AWS also makes Amazon DynamoDB, a serverless NoSQL database. Developers keep key-value and document records in it for their own applications, and replicate tables across AWS Regions with global tables. Amazon DocumentDB is a managed document database for applications built on MongoDB APIs and drivers. Beside it, Amazon ElastiCache is a managed in-memory cache for Valkey, Redis OSS and Memcached that applications read in microseconds. For relational workloads, Amazon RDS operates MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle, SQL Server, Db2 and Amazon Aurora databases with automatic failover to a standby. For analytics, AWS sells Amazon Redshift, a cloud data warehouse. Data teams query its tables and files in Amazon S3 with SQL, either on provisioned clusters or with Redshift Serverless. Amazon OpenSearch Service hosts the OpenSearch engine for log analytics, website search and vector search, on managed clusters or OpenSearch Serverless. AWS CloudFormation provisions AWS and third-party resources as code, building and updating whole environments as stacks.
