Workato is an iPaaS and workflow automation platform for enterprise IT, linking SaaS apps, on-premise systems, APIs and AI agents, billed on usage credits.
Workato moves data and actions between business applications, so a change in one system sets off the follow-up steps in the others without anyone copying records by hand. Each automation is a recipe: a trigger in one app starts a chain of actions across the rest. Workato, Inc. builds the platform and runs it from its Palo Alto headquarters. Integration, API management, data orchestration and AI agents share one platform, so those projects are built and governed in the same place. The recipe editor lays out triggers and actions with conditional logic and loops, and triggers can fire in real time from webhooks. Pre-built connectors handle authentication for common SaaS apps, while the Connector SDK packages a custom connector for anything missing. The On-Prem Agent reaches databases inside a private network over outbound-only connections. Formulas, lookup tables and batch processing reshape records between systems, and API recipes publish a workflow as an endpoint with keys and quotas. When a step fails, the job details page shows every input and output, the job reruns from its stored trigger data, and earlier recipe versions can be restored. Workato is built for enterprise IT and integration teams that tie many SaaS applications to systems still running on premise. Organisations with change control get separate development and production environments, with deployment history and rollback between them. Teams taking AI agents from pilots into daily operations run them beside the recipes and APIs they already maintain. Software vendors are a third audience: Workato Embedded lets a product team build and manage integrations inside its own application. Common recipes keep a CRM such as Salesforce in step with finance and HR systems like NetSuite and Workday as records change. Data teams use the same recipes to move rows into warehouses such as Snowflake and Databricks. Intelligent Document Processing brings incoming documents into a workflow, and Workflow Apps puts low-code apps in front of employees who never open the recipe editor. Whether the step is a sync, an API call or an agent action, it runs as a recipe with the same job history, reruns and version restore.
