Snyk is an application security platform with static code analysis plus dependency, container and IaC scanning for developers, sold by plan or by credits.

Snyk finds security flaws in the code a team writes and in the open source packages, container images and cloud configuration it ships. It reports them where developers already work and proposes fixes. The company behind it, also named Snyk, was founded in 2015 and has its headquarters in Boston. The product now carries the name Snyk AI Security Platform. That name reflects a newer job: checking code that AI assistants write and governing the agents that write it. Snyk Code is the static analysis engine. It follows data flow through source files and flags flaws such as path traversal, using security rules mapped to CWE and the OWASP Top 10. Snyk Open Source checks third-party dependencies for known vulnerabilities and license problems, and Snyk Container scans container images. Snyk IaC reads Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Helm charts and ARM templates, and teams can add their own IaC rules in Rego. Snyk Secrets catches hardcoded credentials, and Snyk API and Web covers APIs and web applications. The platform is designed for developers who want security findings in the editor and the pull request rather than in a separate audit. Small teams and open source maintainers can sign up and start scanning on their own. Security teams at larger organisations use it to consolidate several application security tools onto one platform, with analytics dashboards across groups and organisations. Companies whose code is increasingly written by AI assistants add the Evo line, which covers Evo AI-SPM, coding agent security and AI pentesting. Most of the work happens around the pull request. Connected to GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or Azure Repos, Snyk posts an issue summary on each pull request and fails the check only when the change adds new issues. It also opens automatic fix pull requests, so a developer reviews a patch instead of researching the flaw. In the pipeline, the Snyk CLI stops a build at a chosen severity, and findings can travel on to Jira for the team that owns the code. Earlier still, the IDE plugins for VS Code and Eclipse show the same findings while the code is being written.
