Rundeck

Rundeck is open source job scheduling and runbook automation software from PagerDuty, for operations and platform teams running scripts across servers.
Rundeck turns the scripts, commands and tools an operations team already runs into jobs that execute on a schedule or on request across many servers. It is owned by PagerDuty, Inc. and published as Rundeck by PagerDuty. The core edition, Rundeck Community, is open source. The commercial editions are PagerDuty Runbook Automation, which PagerDuty hosts, and Runbook Automation Self-Hosted. A job is a workflow of steps run against a chosen set of nodes. SSH is the default protocol for remote commands, WinRM reaches Windows hosts, and switches and other network devices can be added as SSH nodes. Node sources build the inventory from live APIs, including AWS EC2, Azure, Google Cloud and VMware. Orchestrator plugins such as Rank Tiered set the order in which nodes run, and Key Storage keeps passwords and SSH keys encrypted. ACL policies grant permissions by username or group, while webhooks and the Advanced Webhooks for GitHub, AWS SNS and PagerDuty start jobs from outside events. Enterprise Runners dispatch automation into remote environments. The product is built for DevOps and platform engineering teams that want to offer routine production tasks as self-service jobs. It fits organisations that already hold a library of shell scripts, Ansible playbooks or API calls and need one place to schedule, run and permission them. A team can begin on the open source edition and move to a commercial one later. Organisations that must keep automation inside their own network run the Self-Hosted edition on premises or in a private cloud. Typical jobs include orchestrating Ansible runs, managing storage, handling containers on Kubernetes and operating cloud resources. In incident response, PagerDuty Event Orchestration can invoke Automation Actions to run diagnostics. Integrations with ServiceNow, Datadog and GitHub tie the same jobs to the ticketing, monitoring and code tools around them. That makes Rundeck the shared runbook library an operations group maintains and the rest of engineering runs on demand.
