PostHog is a product analytics platform for software teams, with session replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys and error tracking in one account.

PostHog gathers the events, session recordings, errors and business data of a web or mobile product in one store, so a team can query them together instead of joining exports from separate tools. It is built by PostHog Inc., an independent San Francisco company that came out of Y Combinator's W20 batch. The whole platform sits behind one signup, and every module reads the same events and the same person profiles. Data lives in a US cloud in Virginia or an EU cloud in Frankfurt. Product Analytics covers trends, funnels, retention and user paths, while Autocapture records clicks and pageviews without code for each event. Schema management defines typed property groups so incoming events keep an agreed structure. Session Replay opens the recordings behind a funnel step, showing the people who converted or dropped off. Feature Flags control releases, Experiments run A/B tests on top of them, and Surveys pop up inside the product for a cohort chosen through a flag. Error Tracking, Logs, Data Warehouse, AI Observability and PostHog AI share the same account. The platform suits software companies where engineers and product managers share responsibility for analytics and want numbers, recordings and release controls in one place. B2B products get account-level reporting, since group analytics rolls events up by company or organization rather than by person. Mobile teams instrument it with SDKs for iOS, Android and React Native, and backend developers with libraries for Python, Node.js, Go, Ruby and several other languages. Identity resolution then merges a person's anonymous and logged-in activity from browser, phone and server into one profile. A common loop starts with a funnel that shows where signups stall, moves to the recordings of the people who left, and ends with a fix released behind a feature flag and measured as an experiment. Alerts watch the metrics that matter and flag a threshold breach or an unusual swing. Cohorts built from person properties filter what PostHog forwards to HubSpot, Customer.io or Meta Ads, so a marketing audience follows behavior in the app. Events also move in and out of the company's data warehouse on a schedule, which lets analysts work from the same record of how each release changed what users do.
