Plotly is a data visualization platform for Python teams that builds dashboards with AI and hosts them on Plotly Cloud or self-hosted Dash Enterprise.

Plotly turns data held in databases, files and Python notebooks into interactive web apps that a whole team can open in a browser. Its maker, Plotly Technologies Inc. of Montreal, also maintains the open-source Plotly.py, Plotly.js and Dash projects. Every app the platform produces is a Dash app drawn with those libraries, so the result stays readable Python code. That closes the gap between an analysis on one laptop and a tool the rest of an organization can use. Plotly Studio is the AI-native workspace: it takes a prompt and a data source and returns an app with charts, controls and tables. A developer can open the generated code and change it directly. Custom Context sets chart styling, date formats and branding once, and the AI applies them across projects. Dash, the open-source framework, serves people who prefer to write apps by hand. Plotly Cloud publishes finished apps and decides who may open each one. Dash Enterprise runs Dash and Studio apps inside a company's own infrastructure, with Enterprise Extensions beyond the open-source framework. Data scientists, engineers and analysts who already work in Python get the most from it, since the apps remain code they can review and extend. Analysts who start from a spreadsheet or a database can reach a working app in Studio without building a front end. On Plotly Cloud, each person who builds is a Creator, and colleagues who only use the apps join as Viewers. Organizations in financial services, life sciences, energy, retail, aerospace and manufacturing choose Dash Enterprise when apps must stay inside their own network. Most of the work is internal tooling built around one dataset and one audience. A quant team puts its models in front of a trading desk, and a plant engineering group predicts equipment failure from sensor readings. Research labs explore single-cell RNA-seq results the same way. Data arrives from Snowflake, PostgreSQL or files on AWS S3, often shaped with Pandas before Dash AG Grid lays out the tables. The finished app goes to the people who need it as a private app with named Viewers, or as a PDF report for readers who work offline.
