Pictory is an AI video maker that turns scripts, blog posts, URLs and slide decks into narrated videos, for marketers and training teams, sold per user.
Pictory exists for people whose message is already written down and who need it on screen without a camera, a presenter or an editing timeline. It splits the text into scenes, matches each one with stock footage and music, adds captions and reads it aloud with an AI voice. Pictory Corp, an independent company started by three co-founders, builds and sells it. The first version launched in July 2020, and the editor runs in the browser at app.pictory.ai. Work begins from a tool on the home screen: Text to Video, URL to Video, PPT to Video, Audio to Video, Images to Video or Summarize Video. The Storyboard editor then lays the scenes out in order, and visuals, layouts, text, audio and branding change scene by scene. AI Studio creates and edits AI-generated images inside a project, and AI avatars, custom ones from the Professional plan up, can present a script. Voiceovers come from standard or ElevenLabs voices, a cloned voice, or a recording that syncs to the video automatically. Brand Kits hold a team's logo, colours and fonts, and Video Translation turns a finished project into localised versions with translated script, captions and on-screen text. Content marketers and creators who already write are the core audience, turning each article or script into video for social feeds. Learning and development, HR, compliance and sales enablement teams use it to turn decks, documents and recordings into training videos that stay on brand. A solo creator buys Starter for one seat, and the Team plan adds a shared workspace, single sign-on and a success manager. Enterprise accounts add Pictory Central, which hosts interactive videos with AI-generated chapters and quizzes, and SCORM export. Everything is sold as a per-user subscription with a yearly allowance of video minutes, storage and AI credits, after a trial, and the Pictory API is a separate subscription for developers. A common job is pasting the URL of a new blog post and getting back a captioned video, then a portrait version for mobile feeds. Training teams build a module from a PowerPoint deck through PPT to Video or the PowerPoint add-in, then hand it to their learning platform as a SCORM package. Marketers clip a long webinar into short highlights with Summarize Video, and the Chrome extension pulls text and images from an open tab into a new project. Developers who need video at volume call the API, which Zapier, Make and n8n can trigger from other apps. For teams whose ideas already live in posts, slides and documents, Pictory is the step that turns that writing into video.
