Linear gives a software team one place to log bugs, plan the work that fixes them and follow it through to release. Issues belong to teams, roll up into projects, and projects roll up into initiatives tied to company goals. Its maker, Linear Orbit, Inc., started in 2019 and trades under the product's name. New work lands in Triage, an inbox where issues wait for review before they join a team's workflow. Triage rules can set an incoming issue's team, status, assignee, labels, project and priority. Each team keeps its own statuses and plans in Cycles, time-boxed periods with a cycle graph that tracks scope against completed work. Projects sit on a timeline that shows which ones block others, and Linear Insights charts progress across teams. Linear Asks turns requests from Slack, email and web forms into issues, while SLAs put deadlines on issues that match set conditions.
