Legalesign

Legalesign is e-signature software for contracts that need witnesses, approvers or qualified signatures, with a signing API, sold per document or per user.

Legalesign sends contracts, forms and deeds out for signature and records who signed, when and in what order. It is built for agreements that need several people to act, such as a tenancy signed by a tenant, a guarantor and a landlord with a witness beside one of them. The product is made by Legalesign Limited, a company incorporated in Scotland whose founder, Ben Eliott, wrote the first versions in the University of Edinburgh's technology incubator. Work starts in the Web App, where the Library holds templates beside Drafts, Presets and an Archive. The document editor places signature, initials, date, dropdown, file upload and regular expression fields, and conditional fields turn a PDF into a form. Each participant gets a role as a signer, witness or approver, and documents go out in sequence or to everyone at once. Reminder schedules and expiry dates chase anything unsigned, while SMS codes check a signer before they sign. Qualified Electronic Signatures run through Digidentity, and Bulk Send turns a spreadsheet of recipients into separate documents. Legalesign Link puts a document at an open address anyone can sign. Customers run from sole traders to public bodies and listed companies. Occasional senders pay per document with no subscription, a single user takes a Solo plan, and a small team pays per user on the Team plan. Larger organisations buy a quoted plan that adds single sign-on, multiple teams and a service level agreement. Developers embed signing in their own software through the REST API and the Legalesign Signer web component, building first against a sandbox account. Sales teams send contracts from Salesforce records and find the signed PDF filed back on the record it came from. Operations teams wire signing into Microsoft workflows with the Power Platform connector. Property, legal and HR teams lean on witness and approver steps for the tenancies, deeds and employment contracts where a second person has to see the document before it is final.
