Lansweeper
by Lansweeper • • IT Asset Management (ITAM) Software
Lansweeper is IT asset management software that discovers devices with or without agents, for IT and security teams, run in the cloud or on-premises.
Lansweeper keeps a running record of every computer, server, network device and cloud machine an organisation runs. Each record also shows who uses the device and what is installed on it. The company behind it carries the same name, dates from 2004 and keeps its head office in Merelbeke, Belgium. The platform runs as a cloud service. Lansweeper Classic, the on-premises installation, keeps the inventory in a Microsoft SQL database on the customer's own server. Network Discovery signs in to devices over WMI, SNMP and vCenter without installing anything, and the lightweight IT Agent covers end-user devices. Cloud Discovery imports virtual machines, databases and storage from Azure, AWS and Google Cloud accounts. A Microsoft 365 and Entra ID connection adds users, groups and license assignments. Asset relations and generated Diagrams show how devices depend on each other, and custom fields, types and states extend each record. Vulnerability insights sit beside end-of-life and end-of-support dates for hardware and software. The platform is built for IT teams that want one inventory across IT, operational technology, cloud and IoT assets. Security teams use the same record to find machines that have passed end of support. Managed service providers run it across client networks. Organisations whose asset data has to stay on their own servers run Lansweeper Classic, which can also link to the cloud site. Service desk agents see a requester's hardware and software inside ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Freshservice or HappyFox tickets, enriched from the inventory. License managers compare installed software with purchased licenses in Lansweeper Classic, or through the Licenseware integration. Analysts who build their own reporting pull asset data into Power BI, or query the GraphQL Data API and subscribe to its webhooks. On Microsoft networks, assets are tied to people through Entra ID and Active Directory, so every laptop shows who it is used by.
