Jenni is an AI writing assistant for academic papers: it drafts, checks claims and cites from the writer's own PDF library, with a free plan and per-user tiers.
Jenni gives researchers one place to read their sources, write a paper and tie each claim back to the document it came from. Jenni AI, Inc. owns and runs it, with the editor at app.jenni.ai. The gap it closes is the one between a reference manager, a folder of PDFs and an empty document. Its AI works from the papers the writer has chosen rather than from general web knowledge. The Library holds uploaded PDFs and collections imported from Zotero and Mendeley. A search pane queries Semantic Scholar, PubMed, arXiv and CrossRef from inside the editor. AI Autocomplete offers the next sentence in grey ahead of the cursor, and AI Chat answers questions across the library with cited replies. AI Edit paraphrases, simplifies or changes the tone of a selected passage, while Generate Headings turns a prompt into a structure of headings and Section Prompts. Reviews then reads the draft through Proofread, Claim Confidence, Source Quality, Tone of Voice and Peer Review. Graduate students and PhD candidates are its core users, along with university labs and academic research teams. Writers in pharma, clinical evidence, policy, market research and case law use it when a report must cite what it says. A student can begin on the free plan, with small daily and one-time AI allowances, and move to Plus or Pro when a thesis needs more. Both are sold per user and billed monthly or annually, and new accounts get a trial of the premium features. Groups buying for several researchers have a separate Teams and Institutions offer. A literature review gets dedicated help, with workflows for the review itself and for gap analysis. Before submission, Claim Confidence flags statements the cited sources do not support, so they are fixed before a journal's reviewers read them. A researcher who keeps an EndNote or Zotero collection brings it in at the start and lets the bibliography build as citations go in. Co-authors write in the same draft in real time, and a supervisor joins as a commenter or viewer to leave feedback without touching the text. Jenni fits the researcher whose writing is judged on whether every sentence can be traced to a source.
