by HetrixTools • • Website & Uptime Monitoring Tools
HetrixTools is a website uptime, server and IP blacklist monitoring service with a free server agent and public status pages, for web hosts and sysadmins.
HetrixTools catches a website outage, an overloaded server and a blacklisted mail IP from one account, so a hosting team does not run three tools for three kinds of failure. HetrixTools, Inc. launched the service in May 2015 and still owns it, with no parent company. The team built the monitoring engine from scratch, along with its own support desk and billing system. The Uptime Monitor checks websites, ping targets, service ports and SMTP servers every minute from locations around the world. It reports an outage only when most of those locations agree, so one failing probe is not reported as downtime. Keyword monitoring confirms a page still carries the expected text, and the Cron Job Monitor raises an alert when a scheduled job stops checking in. The Server Monitor adds a lightweight agent for Linux, Windows, macOS or shared hosting that tracks CPU, RAM, disks, network, RAID and drive health. The Blacklist Monitor watches IP addresses and domains against the major blacklists and Microsoft SNDS, with a report that links to each delisting page. The service is aimed at hosting providers, system administrators and agencies that look after many servers and client sites at once. Mail senders and web hosts use the Blacklist Monitor to keep their addresses out of spam folders. Agencies hand clients reports under their own domain through white label settings and sub-accounts. Both parts live in one account with one login, so a team can start with uptime checks and add blacklist monitoring later. When a check fails, the Location Fail Log records the exact error along with ping and MTR samples from the moment it happened. Alerts reach on-call staff by email, SMS or phone call, or land in Slack, Discord or Microsoft Teams, with PagerDuty and Opsgenie for paging rotations. A public status page tells customers what is down while engineers work, and maintenance mode can be switched on straight from the alert email before planned work. Through the MCP Server, an engineer can ask ChatGPT or Claude to look into a recent outage and trace its root cause. For a web host, that puts site uptime, server health and IP reputation behind a single login.
