Flourish is Canva's data visualization tool for interactive charts, maps and scrollytelling stories, used by newsrooms, marketers and reporting teams.

Flourish turns spreadsheet data into interactive charts, maps and stories that readers can explore on a web page, in a slide deck or inside a design. Founded in 2018, it joined Canva in 2022 and keeps its own site, studio and help center at flourish.studio. The aim is a published graphic that explains a dataset without anyone writing chart code. Each visualization begins as one of the product's templates, filled with the user's own data. The library goes well past bar and line charts, with Sankey diagrams, nested treemaps, packed circles and word clouds. Map templates shade regions, raise them in 3D or place icon markers on a locator map, and readers hover for tooltips. The Text Annotator adds interactive notes to longer passages, and table templates publish with search, filters and inline mini bar charts or sparklines. Flourish Stories chains several charts into slides that animate between states, and a scrollytelling mode moves them as the reader scrolls. The Export and Publish panel hands over a public link, responsive embed code and image, SVG or HTML downloads. Flourish Assistant brings AI help powered by Claude, and the Flourish Connector links visualizations to ChatGPT and other MCP tools. Flourish is built for people who publish data to an audience. Newsrooms and data journalists, financial services teams, professional services firms and marketing departments make up its core users. Typical subjects are election results, polls, sports competitions, survey findings and financial reports. For organizations, it adds team collaboration, approval workflows, brand themes with their own fonts, colors and logos, single sign-on and a live rendering API. Titles, subtitles and footers are read out by screen readers by default, so published charts work for more readers. A typical project begins with data pasted in, uploaded as a CSV file or linked to a Google Sheet so the chart follows changes to the sheet. A newsroom can link a results map to a sheet that editors update on election night, then embed it in an article that resizes on any screen. A marketing team can turn survey answers into a scrolling story on a campaign page, styled in the company theme. Consultants drop an interactive chart into a Canva design or a PowerPoint deck before a client meeting. Developers who want full control export the HTML and host the graphics on their own servers.
