Dropbox Sign is e-signature software from Dropbox for sending, signing and tracking documents, with an API for embedding signing in your own app.
Dropbox Sign is electronic signature software for sending documents out for signature, signing them and tracking who has signed. It replaces the printed contract and the scanned PDF. A signature request lands in the signer's inbox and comes back as a tamper-proof document with an audit trail. Dropbox, Inc. of San Francisco owns it and runs it on its own site at sign.dropbox.com. The product was known as HelloSign before it took the Dropbox name. A sender uploads a file from a computer or from cloud storage, places signer fields with data validation, sets the signing order and sends. Frequently used documents are saved in My Templates, and the Template Gallery offers ready-made ones. Conditional logic shows or requires a field depending on an earlier answer, automatic reminders chase unsigned requests and an expiration date closes them. Bulk send delivers one template to a list of people as separate requests. In-person signing hands the sender's own device to a signer in the room. Security options include SMS verification, signer access codes and electronic ID for qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS. Custom branding puts the sender's logo on the signing page. The Dropbox Sign API adds embedded signing, embedded templates, an API dashboard and a test mode for building against the service before buying a plan. It suits individuals who send the occasional contract and small sales, HR and operations teams that send the same agreements every week. Developers who need a signing step inside their own product build on the API. Teams that keep files in Dropbox or Google Drive and work from HubSpot or Salesforce send and file documents without leaving those tools. Everything runs under one account. The web plans are priced per user and the API plans by the number of signature requests a month, with a free plan capped at three signature requests a month and a trial of the paid tiers. Sales contracts going out for signature, PDFs to fill and sign, Word documents and a template reused for the next customer make up most of what passes through it. Signed copies save back to Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud storage automatically. Sales teams start requests from HubSpot and Salesforce, and the signature editor creates a reusable electronic signature. The SharePoint integration was discontinued on 16 March 2026. Developers connect their own web application through the API and test it in test mode before moving to a paid tier.
