CaptivateIQ is sales commission software for finance and revenue operations teams, with a no-code plan builder and quote-only per-seat pricing.
CaptivateIQ is sales commission software that plans, calculates and pays the variable compensation of a sales team. It takes over the work compensation analysts do in spreadsheets and older incentive tools: working out what every seller earned, showing them why, and getting the payout approved. CaptivateIQ, Inc. builds and sells it, a San Francisco company founded in 2017 by three sales operations practitioners who had run commissions by hand. The platform is sold as one product across three areas CaptivateIQ calls Automate, Motivate and Captivate. SmartGrid, the ELT and calculation engine underneath, pulls deal data from a CRM, ERP, HRIS or warehouse through native connectors, an OpenAPI, SFTP or CSV upload, then shapes it with point and click joins, unions and overrides. The Guided Plan Builder turns rates, tiers, accelerators, SPIFs, draws and ramps into a live plan without code, and a sandbox lets an analyst clone and test a change first. Workflow automation carries a payout run through multi-level approvals, in-app dispute resolution and comp letter distribution. Reporting spans out-of-the-box and custom dashboards, financial modeling, and ASC 606 and IFRS 15 amortization schedules. CaptivateIQ Assist adds an admin co-pilot, a payee coach and a plan advisor. CaptivateIQ suits compensation analysts, revenue operations teams and finance leaders at mid-market and enterprise companies whose plans have outgrown a spreadsheet. Organisations with deep hierarchies, indirect crediting, several payout currencies and SOX obligations are the shape it is built around. Sellers and their managers get their own views, so finance buys the tool and the whole sales floor uses it. It is sold by quote on a per-seat model that counts admin users plus payees, with a one-time setup fee, so every contract is priced for the organisation buying it. The everyday job is the monthly commission close: data lands from the CRM and the billing system, SmartGrid recalculates, statements publish, reps open inquiries on lines they dispute, and finance approves the run. Around that sit quota and capacity planning, territory management and scenario modeling for next year. Exportable audit logs, role-based access and SSO with SCIM provisioning keep a record a controller can sign off. CaptivateIQ reads from the CRM, the ERP and the data warehouse and leaves each as the system of record, and its own comparison pages put it against Xactly, Varicent, Performio, Spiff, QuotaPath and CallidusCloud.
