Byword is an AI article writer for SEO teams that researches keywords, writes long-form articles in bulk and publishes to a CMS, sold as article credits.
Byword turns a keyword or a list of titles into finished, research-backed blog posts, so a content team can publish search content without drafting each piece by hand. It comes from Byword AI Ltd, an independent London company founded by Mack Grenfell. The platform works on long-form formats: how-to guides, listicles, comparisons, glossaries, product reviews and programmatic pages. Research, writing, scoring and publishing all happen inside one web app. Research Intelligence comes first, surfacing keyword opportunities, search intent, competitor coverage and content gaps before a draft starts. Generation then writes the full piece with a model the user picks from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Voice Matching learns tone and vocabulary from samples of a team's existing writing. A knowledge base of uploaded documents gives the writer the team's own product facts to draw on. Smart Optimization scores each draft against its target keyword and checks its structure before it goes out. Content marketers, in-house SEO teams and agencies that need articles in volume get the most from it. Agencies can keep several client domains in one account, and the larger plans add team seats. Byword is bought as a plan of monthly article credits, billed monthly or annually, and unused credits carry over. New accounts start with a small allowance of articles at no cost and without a card. Agencies working past those credit limits can move to the Unlimited tier, which runs on their own model API keys. The usual job starts with a keyword list, which a Campaign turns into drafts written in parallel with one shared voice and one set of settings. Programmatic SEO handles the larger version of that job, building many pages from a single template and a CSV dataset. Internal link suggestions point each new article at pages the site already has. Finished work publishes in one click to WordPress, Webflow or Shopify, and teams that trigger content from other systems use Zapier, webhooks or the REST API. It fits a team whose plan is to cover a long list of search topics on its own site, week after week.
