Backlog is Nulab's project management and issue tracking tool with Git hosting, Gantt charts and a wiki, sold at a flat price per plan rather than per user.
Backlog gives a team one place to track tasks, bugs, documents and code, so developers and the people around them work from the same list. Nulab, the independent Fukuoka company that also makes the Cacoo diagram editor, develops and sells it. Each project holds its own issues, wiki, shared files and repositories. That keeps the full record of a piece of work together rather than spread across several tools. Issues are the core unit, and they break down into parent tasks and subtasks. They gather under milestones and versions, and Related Issues ties connected work together. The Board lays issues out as cards by status, the Gantt chart plots them against dates, and the Burndown chart shows the hours of work left in a milestone. Documents holds the project wiki in a document tree, and the Files library keeps shared files beside it. The AI Assistant summarizes, reviews and improves those documents. Git and Subversion repositories sit inside each project, and an open API with webhooks connects outside systems. Its natural users are small and mid-sized teams that mix software development with design, operations or other non-technical work. Project managers plan with the Gantt chart and milestones, while engineers keep their repositories next to the issues they work on. Clients and contractors can join a single project under the Guest role. Larger companies can connect SAML single sign-on, SCIM user provisioning and audit logs to bring Backlog under central control. Teams leaving Jira or Redmine bring their history across with the Jira Importer and the Redmine Importer, and the Google Sheets Importer loads task lists kept in a spreadsheet. In Slack, the /backlog add command creates an issue and linked projects post their updates to a channel. Microsoft Teams carries the same notifications, and its Copilot plugin lets people search, update and comment on issues without leaving the chat. Issues can also be added by email, and the iOS and Android apps keep assignees on their work away from a desk.
