Agno is an open-source AI agent platform: a Python SDK, a self-hosted AgentOS runtime and a control plane, for engineering teams shipping agents to production.
Agno gives a software team one stack for building AI agents in Python and running them as a production service in its own cloud. Agno Inc., an independent company, develops the SDK, the AgentOS runtime and the control plane as one platform with a single signup. The problem it takes on is the gap between a working prototype and an agent that customers can use safely. Sessions, traces, memory and knowledge live in the team's own database, and no Agno server sits between the browser and the runtime. The Agno SDK defines agents, multi-agent teams and workflows in code, where a team leader can answer, call tools or delegate to member agents. Agents pick their model from dozens of providers, retrieve from knowledge bases, return Pydantic-validated output and pass through input and output guardrails. AgentOS turns that code into an API and an MCP server, with Slack, Telegram and WhatsApp interfaces and a scheduler for timed runs. The control plane adds Sessions, Tracing, Knowledge, Learning Machines and Evaluations, plus Approvals for sensitive actions and an audit trail. Its Studio canvas lets a person drag, drop and publish an agent, and every publish becomes a version that can be rolled back. Agno suits Python engineering teams that ship agents to customers or build them into their own product. It also fits companies that cannot send conversation data to a hosted service, because the runtime and its database stay in their cloud. The SDK and AgentOS are open source, and serving agents costs nothing at any scale. Payment covers the control plane alone, whose free version runs locally for one developer. Pro is a monthly subscription priced by team seats and live runtime connections, while Enterprise is sold by quote and adds end-user management and custom roles, with a self-hosted control plane on request. Typical deployments include a support agent that answers tickets from product docs and order history, and a product agent that takes actions inside an app over REST. The same agents can be added to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP, or answer in a Slack channel. Workflows such as invoice processing pause at an approval gate before anything is posted. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect to a running AgentOS to write and change these agents, and agents built with LangGraph are managed from the same control plane. Agno fits a team that wants its agents to run as infrastructure it owns, watched and governed from one console.
