ACDSee Photo Studio
by ACD Systems • • Photo Management Software
ACDSee Photo Studio is desktop photo management and RAW editing software for Windows and Mac, sold as a one-time licence or an ACDSee 365 subscription.
ACDSee Photo Studio is photo management and RAW editing software that runs on the photographer's own computer, cataloguing folders where they already sit. It is made by ACD Systems International Inc., which has traded as ACDSee since 1994 and sells the software outright as well as by subscription. The problem it takes on arrives with volume: tens of thousands of images spread across drives, cards and years, most of them never sorted. Photo Studio pairs a digital asset manager with two editors. The asset manager browses folders directly, gathers frames that belong together with Auto-Stack by location, time or similarity, groups related shots with AI Image Similarity, and finds a picture again through AI Reverse Image Search. The develop side works on camera RAW files without writing over the original. The Ultimate edition adds a layered editor with masks and blend modes, AI Face Edit for portraits, and generative AI tools that fill, extend, edit and remove parts of an image. It suits photographers who want the library on their own drives and the software paid for once: enthusiasts with a growing archive, wedding and event shooters working through a card at a time, and small studios that would rather not add another monthly bill. Windows gets the widest choice, as Home, Professional and Ultimate; Photo Studio for Mac covers the asset manager and the RAW editor. Each edition is bought outright as a one-time licence, while the ACDSee 365 subscription adds cloud storage and monthly AI credits for a monthly or yearly fee. The routine is ordinary: pull a shoot off a card, stack the frames that belong together, correct a RAW file, take a distraction out of a background, then prepare a set for a client or a print lab. ACD Systems sells three further applications beside it, Gemstone Photo Editor, VectraDraw and Luxea Video Editor, for people whose output runs past stills, and ACDSee 365 Cloud carries files between machines for subscribers. The catalogue itself stays on local storage, which is what keeps Photo Studio workable on an archive that never leaves the desk.
