Perforce is a Minneapolis software company whose portfolio spans version control, software testing, static analysis, infrastructure automation and test data.
Perforce Software, Inc. builds the tools engineering teams use to version, test, secure and ship complex applications, from blockbuster games to advanced semiconductor designs. Chief executive Jim Cassens leads the company, which is backed by Clearlake Capital and Francisco Partners. Its version control product, Perforce P4, was known as Helix Core and stores code and large binary assets in one history. Around it sit P4 Code Review, P4 DAM for art and design files, and P4 Plan for producers and project managers. Klocwork and QAC handle static analysis of source code. The rest of the line came through acquisitions: Hansoft in 2017, Perfecto in 2018, BlazeMeter in 2021, Puppet in 2022, Delphix in 2024 and Snowtrack in 2025. Together these products cover test data management, functional and performance testing, debugging, infrastructure automation and data virtualization. Puppet, created in 2005 and part of Perforce since 2022, carries the automation line: it enforces declared configuration on servers, cloud and network devices and corrects drift. Perforce sells this portfolio to enterprises across the whole DevOps process. Its customers build games, semiconductors, healthcare systems and aerospace technology.
