OpenAI is the San Francisco AI research company behind ChatGPT, Sora and the OpenAI API, founded in 2015 and governed by the nonprofit OpenAI Foundation.

OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company based in San Francisco. It builds general purpose models and puts them in front of people as products: ChatGPT for everyday chat and work, Sora for video, Codex for coding tasks, and the OpenAI API for developers who want the same models inside their own software.
