Anthropic is an AI research company that builds Claude, a family of models and the assistant, agent and developer platform built on them. It is a Public Benefit Corporation, and it states its purpose as the responsible development and maintenance of advanced AI. The company is independently owned and sits under no parent group. One product line carries that work. Claude runs as an assistant on the web, on iOS and Android and on the desktop, and as Claude Code in the terminal. Claude Cowork, Claude Design and Claude Science are part of the same subscription, and @Claude joins a Slack channel as a teammate in beta for Team and Enterprise customers. Developers reach the same models directly through the Claude Platform, the API Anthropic meters by token. That platform carries the Claude Console, the Messages API, the Claude Agent SDK and Managed Agents, so teams can build their own applications and agents on the same models. Anthropic sells to individuals, to teams of 2 to 150 seats, and to larger organizations that need SCIM provisioning, audit logs, role-based access and custom data retention. Alongside the product, the company publishes its safety, interpretability and misuse research on its own site, and its usage policies with it.
