Lob turns a physical mailing into an API call. A POST creates a postcard, letter, self-mailer or check, Lob's Print Delivery Network of US commercial printers produces and posts it, and tracking events come back through webhooks and a dashboard, so a mailing can be triggered and measured by the same system that sends the email. It is made by Lob, a San Francisco company founded in 2013. The direct mail REST API covers postcards, letters and checks, plus self-mailers and snap packs. HTML mail templates and a no-code visual editor design the piece, variable data personalization fills it, and QR codes and personalized URLs tie the response back to the recipient. The address verification API cleans a list before a send, with NCOALink change-of-address updates. Intelligent Mail barcode tracking, a mail analytics dashboard and mail status webhooks follow each piece through the postal system, a campaign builder with a template gallery serves the people who will not be writing the POST themselves, an audience list purchase option supplies the names, and a resource proofs API renders a preview.
