ProWritingAid is an AI writing assistant built for people who work on long documents rather than short messages. It is made by Orpheus Technology Ltd, an independent British company that trades under the ProWritingAid name and has developed the editor since 2013. The product checks grammar and spelling, then reports on style, sentence structure and readability across a whole manuscript. One account covers every tier, from the free level to the lifetime license. The Web Editor is the main workspace, and a draft runs through separate reports for grammar and spelling, writing style, sentence structure and readability. Story Canvas comes before the draft, guiding a writer through structured questions about plot and character and keeping the answers beside the manuscript. Chapter Critique reads a completed chapter and returns written feedback, while Rephrase rewrites a selected sentence and Sparks suggests a way forward. A custom style guide adds the writer's own rules to the checks, and the Plagiarism Checker compares a document against published sources. Word Explorer works as a thesaurus while drafting, and a rephrase can be set to a formal, informal or emotive tone. The product suits novelists and self publishing authors most directly, because its reports are built to run across a manuscript rather than a paragraph. Students, academics and business writers run the same reports on theses and marketing copy, and a custom style guide holds house rules in place. It is designed around one writer's own documents and settings, with each account carrying its own style rules and history. Every tier is bought per writer, as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a one time lifetime license, and the plan cards list all of them. The same account works wherever the writing happens, through the Web Editor, a Microsoft Word add-in, a Google Docs integration and Chrome and Firefox extensions. Drafts written in Scrivener, Final Draft or OpenOffice can be brought in for analysis, and an edited document exports back out as DOCX or PDF. Typical jobs are editing a novel chapter by chapter, tightening a business document, checking a thesis before submission and clearing a plagiarism check before publishing. Story Credits are sold separately for the deeper manuscript analyses, so a full draft can be read end to end when it is ready.
